News: Mayfair community development progresses with new projects and events
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The Mayfair community development, spearheaded by Southstar, is making significant strides with multiple new projects underway, according to Gretchen Howell, the Chief Operating Officer of Southstar.
“Quite a lot about to happen in the area and happening now,” said Howell.
The development, which spans 1,800 acres, is a major addition to the New Braunfels and Hill Country landscape. “We are three years into what is a 20-year plan,” she said.
Recently, Mayfair opened the first of its planned 300 acres of public parks and is nearing the completion of an elementary school.
Additionally, the community will soon welcome its own Costco location.
These developments are part of the efforts to serve the New Braunfels area, Howell said.
“We have a few hundred homes that are already completed with residents in place,” she said. “It really is about kind of creating a place to welcome so many different people.”
Looking ahead, Mayfair is focusing on future projects such as Midtown Mayfair, a commercial space featuring restaurants and shopping.
The community is also preparing for its second annual festival, Mayfest, which will take place this Saturday.
“It’s free. It’s a great family event, terrific food, terrific things to do. From 11 to three tomorrow,” said Howell.
